A few years ago (in 2004), Ashley Revell, a 32 year-old British guy, sold everything he owned, cashed out all his investments, emptied his bank accounts, and bought one tuxedo. He had even sold all of his other clothes!He then flew to Las Vegas with a pile of cash (over USD 135,000) with a plan to lay it all down on the Roulette table. If he won, he would be able to go home with double his net worth - but if he lost, he would be begging the pit boss for a bus ticket.
Sky TV followed him and made a mini-reality show out of the event. He actually did go through with the bet, in spite of his father's disapproval... and, without spoiling it, here's how the wager went down:
